4th November - Moroccan coast road and wind.

Bush camping last night - good evening, followed by a bad night as the wind got up. The tent was so buffeted I hardly slept - put the tent down in the same conditions as those that took my last tent in the Gobi.

On the road by 8, covered 93 miles and 2 police checks by 10am. Now in Boujdour waiting stragglers. Dull coastal road, through flat rocky desert with scrubby bushes and pylons. Scenery enlivened by de-laminated truck tyres, discarded plastic, and the occasional dead donkey. Being buffeted and sand blasted by oncoming trucks. Another 500 miles of this to the Mauritania border!

Long Day - 285 miles so far, in little over 5 hours of driving time. Now waiting with the Halls near Dakhla for the rest - the plan then being to find a camping place on the beach, hopefully more sheltered than last night. Strong smell of fish throughout - it is their only industry.

After 318 miles, shortly after the Dakhla turning, we pulled off the dismal road onto a track and found ourselves at a camp site on the beach- with loos, showers and an amazing view. We watched sunset while bobbing about in the Atlantic, and I took the upgrade to a Bedouin tent in search of sleep catchup. The only downside is the over-attentive manager, who probably sees no-one for weeks.
